Where to Store Gold Products

Gold is a beautiful metal which fascinates people since the beginning of times. The ancient Egyptians used gold as a symbol of their divine origin, Romans put the faces of their leaders on golden coins, kings and queens died because of their passion for the metal and pirates roamed the seas in search of treasure chests filled with gold.

You are the owner of a large collection of jewelry or have invested all of your savings in gold bars being advised by a professional. You might even be the proud owner of a gold coin set left to you from generation to generation, or recently purchased by you. You feel very happy when you admire your collection, still something feels wrong. Your gold can’t simply stay in your living room for you to see it every day.

People get killed for such imprudence. Instead you should consider storing it somewhere away from the eyes of desperate or greedy persons. There are mainly three ways in which you could store your gold:

1. Some gold dealers also offer storage options for the purchased merchandise. They require a certain fee which usually varies with the amount of gold. The disadvantage of such a storing method is that you don’t have direct access to your gold.

2. Banks offer safety deposit boxes where you can place your gold for safekeeping. But this method has a major flaw. The contents of the deposit boxes are usually not insured against robbery or other disasters.

3. Having a personal safe offers you the possibility of storing your gold in a safe place and you will also have access to it whenever you wish. A floor safe is the most appreciated one by insurance companies.

Besides these methods there are also the old-fashion ones. Among them I need to mention keeping the gold under your mattress, which could make you become paranoid about all the persons entering your home; or burying your gold in non-corrosive canisters on your property also known as midnight gardening. The last option has the major downfall that when the owner of the gold dies, the remaining members of the family might have no clue on the place where the gold is buried.
