The argument between North and South Goa is never-ending. North Goa is known for its rowdy beach parties, where partygoers may enjoy evenings of wild revelry, while gentler visitors, such as myself, choose the South for its clean, less-noisy beaches and laid-back atmosphere. Each to his own. Let’s travel South Goa with Bharat Taxi.
1. Leopard Valley Party
South Goa has its fair share of parties, and the Leopard Valley parties are among the most thrilling. Leopard Valley is a jungle location where some of the top D.J.s worldwide perform beneath the stars.
2. Pamper yourself with a massage on Patnem Beach
Have you had your fill of hiking, swimming, shopping, and partying? Relax with a treatment at one of Patnem Beach’s many massage parlors.
3. Meet the folks behind The Tribe Goa
The Tribe Goa is an diverse group of conservationist working to create a self-sustaining jungle ecology. On their small farm, they have cats, dogs, ducks, and other friendly animals. They’ve even started growing their food! The tribe has been working in South Goa to raise environmental awareness among locals and tourists. A visit to their home will open your eyes to a different way of life: they take very little from nature and give back whatever they bring. If you chat to them, you’ll learn about the region’s incredible biodiversity, the truth that snakes aren’t violent creatures, and the simple lifestyle changes you can do to decrease your environmental footprint.
4. Go to a live music performance by The Tribe Goa
When I stated that the Tribe Goa is an diverse mix of people, I meant that they’re all beautiful people who are each talented in their way. They have several musicians, both vocalists, and instrumentalists, among them. The music created by the entire ensemble, which includes guitars, tabla musicians, saxophonists, flutists, Indian classical singers, pop artists, and others, is magnificent. MAGIC.
5. Take part in The Space Goa’s parties and events
The Space Goa is undoubtedly South Goa’s most lively venue. It is highly renowned for its exciting events, including drawing lessons, yoga and meditation sessions, cooking workshops, movie screenings, massage sessions, dance classes, and much more. It is located between Agonda and Palolem. They also have a coffee shop where you can get excellent, guilt-free meals.
6. Drive up to the Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary
For those who relish being behind the wheel, Goa’s highways are a dream come true. The road to Netravali is lovely; bordered on both sides by lush greenery and hills, the journey transports you into the heart of nature. If you go during the monsoon, you might even encounter seasonal waterfalls along the way. Don’t miss this excursion if you want to see the best of Goa’s, the Western Ghats.
7. Go to the Spice Gardens
The most excellent site to see Goa’s spice gardens in Netravali. Apart from fruit trees, you’ll discover black pepper, cardamom, nutmeg, vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, chilies, coriander, betel nut palm, and other spices in these gardens, depending on the season.
8. Get a fish beauty treatment at Bubble Pond
While driving through Netravali’s twisting roads, you’ll come across a bit of a temple with a curious feature called the bubble pond. If you clap near the lake’s surface, bubbles will erupt on the water’s surface! If you put your legs in the water, the lake’s little fish will come over and offer you a free pedicure!
9. Kayak on the open ocean
Get out on the water in a kayak and enjoy some time alone in the blue waves. Kayaks can be rented at several beach shacks at Agonda, Cola, and Palolem. A word of warning: this should only be attempted by experienced kayakers.
10. Practice in Palolem’s backwaters
If you’re unsure about going out into the ocean, you may start by practicing in Palolem’s backwaters. The mangroves surrounding it are home to various bird species and serve as a nesting ground for various marine critters.
11. Palolem Island Journey from Varandas de Canacona
One of South Goa’s best-kept secrets is the 4-hour twilight trip to Palolem Island. First, the journey includes a visit to South Goa’s famous Palolem Island Reserve, which is otherwise closed to the public due to its status as private property. Next, the trip includes a 30-minute sunset boat ride to the island, a guided walkabout of the island’s many unique spots (each with their significance and stories), sunset drinks, and snacks at Asia’s oldest rock (geologists estimate it to be around 3.4 billion years old). Finally, a boat rides back to the mainland under a starry sky.
12. At Galgibaga Beach, try fresh oysters
Oysters to die for? The beach in Galgibaga is the place to be. This unassuming beach, which has yet to be spoiled by overdevelopment, is also a nesting spot for Olive Ridley turtles.
13. Watch the Agonda beach come alive at night
To have this bizarre experience, you must be fortunate. On nights during the monsoon, when the sky is a heavy blanket of clouds, preventing moonlight from passing through, and all beach shacks are closed, you’ll see the beach glow in the dark! However, if you reach at the right time, you will see bioluminescence on Agonda beach.
