It just shows in a different way now. Vegas compositing pipeline really isn’t built or scaled to handle 4K workflows yet so starts throwing out of memory issues or video rendering hangs for no apparent reason. I tried setting dynamic RAM preview to 0, normally I have and yes rendering works! Set it back to and error returns. Surely it’s not really a shortage of memory. And it works in VP I had the same problem with pro 17, 4K rendering, GTX card- and setting dynamic ram to 0 worked- I’m rendering with the GPU- nv encoder- a hell of a lot faster.

Former user You stated that you still have this problem in VP17 Update 1 build If you set your Dynamic RAM Preview to 0, does it fix the problem, as it does for the other commenters here?

To be clear, I’m only referring to this memory problem, not your zero-byte lossless problem. NickHope Yes. From other comments, it seems that the DR setting is more key to this issue than the thread setting. I want to get the definition right for an entry in the Known Issues post, and also establish if the threads setting is worth adding to the FAQ on rendering stability.

NickHope Ok, Give me a few minutes and ill get back. If this now would have to be set to the ” exact number ” , this should be clearly pointed out to the users or set automatically by the software upon installation. Same problem here. Rendering with CPU works but a 1 min test project takes 6’30”. I’m changing only the template bitrate but stock template gives the same error.

This is an i7 with 16GB. I got the latest nvidia drivers, dated July 23rd. It made no difference. I’m probably due for a new graphics card V16 no go either. Changing max threads made no difference. Neither did rebooting the computer – that used to be essential in the olden days!

Maybe their new Colour Grading is stealing our resources :D. Big help to previewing. But now VP16 works which it didnt do before. Forgot your username? Create an account. My name is Liz and I make art tutorials on YouTube.

I’m trying to render a 4 minute video and efter about 10 minutes of rendering an error message keeps popping up saying “The system is low on memory.

You may be able to reduce memory usage by closing other applications”. This has happened before, and I simply had to clear the program’s cache and it would work properly. But this time that’s not the case. This has been happening since last night. You can also find me on YouTube , Facebook , Twitter. I’ve even tried rendering in various similar and lower quality video formats – nothing seems to work. This is not good – I have a video I need done by tomorrow As a temporary workaround, you could render out segments then join or render out lossless video segments, join, then encode with another encoder. The problem is some formats don’t “join” well after the fact, hence the recommendation the 2nd option.

First, thank you for the quick replies. Very much appreciated. I’ll check it out. I then deleted the first half of the edit saving as a new file and saved the second half.

Joined the two and managed a full file, but it does bother me that this happened, and I’d like to avoid it in the future. Now that I am looking into it, I believe this is 32 bit. For reference, it would render, but would stop in different places when I tried. Another poster had similar issues , it turned out the problem was quicktime files MOV wrapped.

Quicktime causes many issues with vegas. What were your source files? All of them have worked for me in Vegas in the past. I have converted QuickTime files when needed, because I know they don’t work in it.

I usually convert them to MPEG-2’s. I figured files that came from NASA wouldn’t be corrupt. Maybe some were? Anything’s possible. It’s not that Sorry about the computer details on my profile – I’ve added that so when I have questions others can see that in the future.

Thanks for pointing that out. Do you have a bunch of huge stills? That will choke any program. Huge stills should be resized before import, or use png.

Why is Vegas Movie Studio saying “Out of Memory” error, when I have plenty of RAM?
