A Mantra in simple terms is a sound that resonates with the Cosmic energies. It is a part of prayers because these sounds have the power to reach the celestial bodies. The Mantras are formed out of the Sanskrit language and contain highly elevated vibrations. Every reverberation produced during Mantra chanting establishes a connection with the pertaining energy. Similarly, there are Beej Mantras; the shortest sounds that are said to have come into existence while the Universe was created.
There is a Beej Mantra for worshipping every deity, planet and activating our Chakras as well. Their sounds radiate vibrations that enliven each of our Chakra. This directly works on regulating the functioning of a particular Chakra and also activates it. A lot of healers suggest Chakra meditation with Beej Mantras to strengthen and heal the blocked Chakras.
7 Chakra Beej Mantra
1) Muladhara Chakra Mantra– LAM
aka Root Chakra
The first Chakra located at the very base of the spinal column is the Muladhara Chakra. It is the foundation of the human body and controls the excretory system, pelvis, legs, skeletal system, and hips. Reciting the “LAM” Mantra restores the sense of security and makes you healthier physically.
2) Swadhisthana Chakra Mantra– VAM
aka Sacral Chakra
Located a little below the navel at the lower abdomen, Swadhisthana Chakra possesses the power of creativity. Each individual has “chi”- the energy of creation within him. One can only use it to the fullest if the Swadhisthana Chakra is open. To activate the Chakra, recite “VAM” on a regular basis. It makes you more courageous and improves sexual health.
3) Manipura Chakra Mantra– RAM
aka Solar Plexus Chakra
Manipura Chakra is the source of gaining leadership skills and self-confidence. Blockage in Manipura Chakra is the reason for indecisiveness, quick & confused reactions, and monotonous feelings. Those who face these problems can recite the “RAM” Mantra to awaken the Solar Plexus Chakra that is located right on the navel.
4) Anahata Chakra Mantra– YAM
aka Heart Chakra
The fourth Chakra is located exactly at the center of the chest. It has to control over emotions i.e. positive and negative feelings. Happiness, excitement, love, hatred, anger, resentment, etc. are the expressions that are related to Anahata Chakra. Having a blocked Anahata Chakra attracts all sorts of negative emotions and your body becomes an abode for bad feelings. When you begin the Chakra Meditation with “YAM”, it is beneficial for your Heart Chakra. It opens you to accept the positive feelings, builds good relations, and transmutes you into a joyous state.
5) Vishuddha Chakra Mantra– HAM
aka Throat Chakra
Right above the collar bone is Vishuddha Chakra- the Chakra that handles your vocal power, listening ability, and communication. Performing regular Chakra Meditation with “HAM” Mantra deliberately activates your Vishuddha Chakra. The blockage in this Chakra can also be the cause of physical ailments like thyroid, sore throat, etc. Daily chanting of the Chakra Mantra is one of the effective solutions for healing.
6) Ajna Chakra Mantra– OM
aka Third Eye Chakra
Ajna Chakra is connected with the thought process and imagination skills. An activated Ajna Chakra lets you experience the power of decision-making with your intuitive ability. It allows you to accept things as they are and frees you from the burden of carrying ego. Usually, sinus and vision problems are associated with Ajna Chakra. Starting the Chakra Meditation practice with the recitation of “OM” is helpful for activation.
7) Sahasrara Chakra Mantra– AUM
aka Crown Chakra
As the name suggests, Crown Chakra is positioned at the crown of the head. It is the ultimate connection of a human with the heavenly energies.
