How to Use Concealer to Hide a Spot, Scar, or Other Blemish?

A skilled makeup artist can conceal any scar. However, for most of us, it may appear that we are just bringing it to our attention. So, how can you hide a blemish, a breakout, or a bothersome scar?

These are my tips on how to conceal them best: Five Steps:

  1. Correct Color – You should select a concealer shade that is the closest match to your natural skin tone. When trying concealers, be patient since the color that dries may change from the color that is applied.
  2. Foundation First – One of the most effective techniques to disguise scars is to apply foundation first, followed by concealer. Most of the time, you will remove the concealer with your brush, sponge, or fingers while you put your foundation on top. Not to mention that you will use more products than is required.
  3. Use sparingly – Apply just enough to create a light coating over the area you want to hide. If required, you may always add more.
  4. Dab & Tab – This is the ultimate concealment technique! Apply the concealer with a gentle dabbing or tapping strokes to smooth it out evenly.
  5. Powder Finish – My pro tip for long-lasting foundation and concealer is to always set them with powder. This will extend the life of your cosmetics.

Preventing Blemishes

Acne and pimples are frequently unavoidable. It is critical to maintaining a regular skin care program, and please remember to always remove your makeup.

Here are some of my suggestions for dealing with scars and acne:

Primer

Primers include a silicone base that fills in wrinkles and evens out the skin’s surface texture. It also acts as a barrier between your pores and your makeup, allowing it to stay on longer.

Scar Cream Treatment

Scar creams are designed to break up scar tissue and lessen the visibility of acne scars. Apply a small amount of the lotion to your skin each night. The scars will begin to fade with continued use. Scar creams are available at every drugstore at a reasonable price. A dermatologist can also assist you in dealing with bothersome scars.

Whether you get acne on a daily basis or whether your hormones have suddenly changed, we’ve all had acne or scars at some point in our lives. For me, acne along my hairline is caused by hair products and perspiration, not to mention several stretch marks from delivery. I usually recommend applying a little “healing power” to help the marks improve.

Remember to always do the following:

  • Drink plenty of water and eat healthily; your skin will thank you.
  • Sun damage causes delayed or faulty healing, therefore protecting the scar from the sun.
  • Use a product that has skin-healing components including quercetin (an antioxidant), onion extract, petrolatum, and vitamin C to treat the scar.
  • Avoid using drying cleansers, particularly bar soaps, and use products with irritating compounds, such as lavender or eucalyptus, since these can cause severe irritation and prevent the skin’s optimal healing response.
  • Makeup and face washes that promote acne breakouts should be avoided.
  • Allow your skin to breathe and avoid putting on makeup. Simply let your skin breathe.
