One of the best questions to ask when studying the life of Jesus is to find out how tall he was. Why is this interesting? Well, it can give one an idea of what Jesus’ frame of reference was in his culture and environment.

Drawing on the historical and archaeological evidence, we can reasonably estimate that Jesus was between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 8 inches (1.67m to 1.73 m) tall, a relatively average height for a Jewish man at that time. He was born into ordinary life, but through his words and actions, he became one of history’s most significant figures.

The Gospels give an indication of Jesus’ height from descriptions of him as a man of prayer and peace walking through the countryside with his disciples:

Jesus walked among them, and they were amazed at his gracious words. John 6:63

And the crowds that heard him were astonished at his teaching and at the gracious words that fell from his lips. It is believed by many that Jesus was a man of average height, somewhere between 5’5″ and 5’8″. This is based on historical and archaeological evidence, as well as descriptions of him in the Bible.

Although the Bible doesn’t explicitly state whether or not Jesus had any siblings, many scholars believe that he did. The reason for this belief is that most first-century Jewish families were large, and it would have been very unusual for Jesus to be an only child.

There are several passages in the Bible that seem to indicate that Jesus had at least four brothers: James, Jose, Simon, and Judas. These men are often referred to as the “brothers of Jesus” or the “brethren of the Lord.” For example:

And his sisters are Mary and Martha. Luke 8:19 Now, these were His brothers. And His sisters. Mark 6:3-4a Is not this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t His mother called Mary? And His brother James. Matthew 13:55-56a These verses make it clear that Jesus had at least two sisters and several brothers. However, it’s important to note that nowhere in the Bible does it say definitively how many siblings Jesus had or what their names were. How did Jesus die?

The Bible tells us that Jesus died on the cross at Calvary. But how did he die? Was he simply crucified and left to die, or was there more to it than that?

Many experts believe that Jesus died of asphyxiation. This is because the process of crucifixion involved suspending a person’s body on a cross with their hands and feet outstretched. The weight of the body would eventually cause the person to suffocate. In fact, this form of execution was so agonizing and brutal that it was banned by Emperor Constantine in 337 AD.

So, while we don’t know for sure how Jesus died, it is likely that he suffocated to death on the cross after several hours of intense pain and suffering.
