A well-balanced diet is integral to a child’s development and health. It is significant for their overall well-being. With nutrient-dense meals, children can ensure proper cognitive growth, shield from diseases, and enhance productivity, facilitating them to advance to their full potential. Thus, promoting child nutrition in India is a crucial endeavour that demands our attention. The Government of India has many initiatives in place, such as Swasth Bharat Yojana, where they actively organise outreach programmes to enhance nutritional awareness at the grassroots level. These health camps specially target women, children under six, and adolescent girls.
Many NGOs, like Bal Raksha Bharat (globally known as Save the Children), have been working with the government and local communities to create awareness about child nutrition in India. These organisations strive to ensure that people residing in marginalised communities have access to proper healthcare. They achieve this goal by promoting improved nutritional practices, facilitating access to safe drinking water, advocating for hygiene practices, and preventing childhood infections like pneumonia, diarrhoea, and malaria.
